PLL: Fashion!

The cast on set.

Once I got over my whole "I'm above this teen show" attitude and watched the pilot of the new ABC Family show, Pretty Little Liars, I was hooked. The fact that this mysterious show incorporates texting as a big part of the conflict relates so well to the current generation of viewers. After the season finale left me hanging, I went out and bought the first book, read it in 2 days, and am now about to start the second book "Flawless." I really like how Sara Shepard, the author, begins each novel with a quote. The first one being a Benjamin Franklin quote (which was incorporated into the shows theme song) "Three may keep a secret, if two of them are dead," and the second book's, a Ghandi quote: "An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind." We'll see what that means when I finish reading!! These quick, easy, pool-side reads are perfect to tide us over until the next season!

But, not only is the show a dramatic secret pleasure, but I loveee the clothes!!
Especially Aria's, where many times I went in my closet and recreated looks...no joke.
Have any favorite episodes? Like the books? Lemme know!

Success!!

Finally home after a surprisingly successful day at work!
  • I made a couple from France a reservation at a family style Italian restaurant off Broadway, Mama Mias. They loved it so much the ordered me one of the pasta specials and brought it back to the Inn for me! Free Dinner!! It was so sweet of them, and delishiiiious!
  • I even finished the laundry in time to watch the finale of Pretty Little Liars! Sooo crazy!!! I think I might start reading the books! Hanna: Hit by a car in the last minute because "A" says "She knew too much." What?! Did she die?? Emily: Her dad is back and her mom knows about her gf?! Aria: Mr. Fitz? Why can't she stick with the high school kid? And who wrote on the back of Fitz's car...Ian? Ian, where did he even come from!? Thus bringing up Spencer, a seemingly innocent home wrecker! It's a melodrama fueled by texting, that's for sure!!!
  • I also watched Make it or Break it... they're trying to incorporate ballet into Payson's new "artistic gymnast" status...but they are failing miserably. There are countless pre-professional ballet schools in the state of California, and they choose extras who do not even know how to plie? It the art form a bad name!
  • I also got some great pictures, even though it was slightly overcast before I went outside!

Working for Ballet

This past Spring Break I journeyed to Spain where I had the best 8 days of my life...thus far. The one catch with the trip was that if my parents paid, I would have to work for whichever Ballet Intensive I was to attend for the Summer. And this brings us here where I am working as a secretary at my parent's Inn. I don't really mind it though, because I'm actually saving money being here. Otherwise I'd be shopping downtown buying more clothes, which my closets have already “OD”ed on, and also I get all the coffee I want here, unlike at Starbucks where a good percentage of my cash is lost. (I can't help myself, their skinny vanilla lattes with a double shot espresso, are so worth it!) Commercial America...love hate relationship.
So my work load tonight: answering the phone, making dinner reservations, calling cabs, checking in guests, printing our new brochures, and *ick* flipping the laundry, but hey it could be worse. I'm here until 10 or so, but hopefully I can finish early so I can watch Pretty Little Liars on the big screen in the dinning room. Weird show, but its good summer tv.
I'm also getting paid to photograph the Inn and the grounds, because our event coordinator needs some new pictures for the website. I love my Nikon d60. Maybe I'll get some good ones today?
I guess I should go fold some more brochures…joy 
